The Rohingya Exodus was triggered in Burma after Rohingyas started attacking Burmese Nationals and Hindus. Several incidents of Gangrape and murder of Burmese Nationals in Rakhine led to communal tensions. These clashes esclated into a massive exodus when Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army started bombing Burmese Police Stations and launched attacks against Burmese Buddhist and Hindu Nationals, demanding an Independent Islamic State for Rohingyas in Rakhine.
Rohingya Muslims claim to be an ethnic group from the Rakhine State of Myanmar (Burma). But they do not have any documentary evidence to prove that they are not from Bangladesh. Around 10 lakh Rohingyas left Myanmar after being deported due to Rebellious Activities against Burmese Nationals. Rohingya Muslims consider themselves to be descendants of Arabs and their affinity has always remained with countries like Pakistan and Saudi Arabia which is why Burmese Government never granted citizenship to them.
